Reading time: 2 – 4 minutes

One of the most important things in lifestyle design is being realistic with who you are, what your skills are, and what your qualities are. There is nothing wrong with aspiring to improve, but at some point you have to take into consideration what you can really accomplish.

You have to be clear on what you really want to get out of your life. Lifestyle design partially means adjusting and modifying your current lifestyle habits and actions to eventually create your dream life. And although this may sound a bit out of tune with the typical optimistic approach, being realistic is the better and more practical way to do this.

In no way does lifestyle design mean copying the habits of others. There is nothing wrong with that, but unless the lifestyle habits that you are inserting into your life fit you, you may not actually get the desired results. I think this is something that people should consider. Our lives are unique to us and to our personality. By copying someone else’s routine or life just for the sake of change isn’t really all that helpful.

Because what this does, is puts you in a rhythm that you didn’t actually make for yourself. There is nothing wrong with copying others, but they may be doing those things for reasons that are not in line with your dreams and ambitions. Every lifestyle design method is unique to every individual.

Just remember that lifestyle design simply means that you create the life that you want, and not what others want. By being ourselves in planning and executing, you can easily reach your intended goals and dreams in no time. Be realistic in assessing what possible changes you can implement in your life.

Another thing to remember is to take your time in designing your life. All good things take time to create. Like a painter creating his or her masterpiece, it takes patience and vision to turn a dull canvass into a work of art. Every layer and color of the painting is first planned out, with intricate details on where to put the accents of each stroke. And it may look unclear at first, but eventually, once you have followed the right order and sequence of translating your vision onto the canvass, you might surprise yourself with the quality of work you produce. And like every work of art, the methods applied will be fundamentally the same, such as creating the colors on the palette (similar to planning out your intended activities), applying the colors to the canvass (integrating them into your life), and finally creating a work of art ( achieving your vision and dreams for your life).

I hope that you were able to get a couple of tips that you can use to help in figuring out what you want in your life. It may take some time to achieve, but with patience you will eventually get there.

Reading time: 4 – 6 minutes

One of the most common questions that Location Independent Professionals are always asked about is where to stay. A lot of people assume that since we are mostly on the move and not opting to stay put in one place, our preferred choice of accommodation is either a hostel or a five-star hotel. Though quite frankly, there’s nothing wrong with staying in those places.

We usually rent furnished apartments complete with access to amenities such as gyms, pools an high speed internet connection. This is probably a conscious decision on our part since a location independent lifestyle brings a different living experience than what is considered normal by many people. We would much rather pay more to get that feeling of home as we travel around, and still look to have our own little home anywhere in the world.

One of the major challenges to living a location independent lifestyle is finding the right type of accommodation that fits your budget. We spend hours on end trying to find ads on the internet about suitable places to stay, and it can get rather overwhelming with the amount of information available. It is similar to deciding what one thing you want to get for Christmas.

Thankfully, there are shortcuts and simple tips you can use to shorten the number of hours on the internet looking for your own home.

Use the Right Key Phrases

When searching for the perfect home on the internet, it helps a lot to be very specific on what you want. By simply using some of the search phrases below, you can easily find the home that you are looking for in much less time. You can start off with some of the following search terms like:

furnished apartment with internet ( add your destination)

short term rentals ( add your destination)

vacation rentals (add your destination)

short term rental apartment + internet (add your destination ex. London Holiday Apartments, Park City hotels, etc.)

If you need a place with internet access, then simply add the phrase “with internet” to your search terms. This is will sort out all the available places that provide internet connection to tenants.

By doing this search, you get a lot more specific information on the places that you may want to stay.

You can get the number of places in your intended destination, and how it compares with other places.

Places with Internet access will pretty much score higher in search engine results giving you more choices if this is a factor.

Accessing rental agencies, ex. India car rental, and directories that can provide you more than enough information will save you time from spending long hours of searching on the net.

Your initial search will eventually turn up one or two websites that perfectly outlines all the things on your checklist. But if not, just continue to keep searching as you will eventually find one that will fit your needs.

Another way to go about this is by looking for local property agents in your intended destination. By consulting with local agents, you can get an idea about what properties are available, their price range, and the overall amenities that they provide.

If money is not your main concern, then I suggest that you try VRBO.com or Vacation Rentals by Owner. Although this alternative may be a bit on the pricey-side, if you can afford it, then by all means – go.

Narrow Your List to Specific Areas

The next thing that you want to do after piling up your list is to trim down your selections to the best possible areas that you plan to stay in. I have to say that this is personally a hard thing to work out. For this one, you really have to check the area out for a comparison with other places.

Try to consult with online and offline contacts that live in, or near the area to provide you more information about the place.

Look for blogs and blog posts that focus on those areas that you want to live in.

Just a reminder, if the site has no photos posted online and other detailed information, try to contact who ever is responsible for the post and ask for more pictures.

The Next Step…Check it Out.

The best thing to do before you head out is to visit the location, if possible during the off-peak season. This gives you a head start in figuring the place out, and will give you more time to look at other choices that may not be listed online.

Reading time: 5 – 8 minutes

A location independent lifestyle is known for being able to move from one place to the next, enjoying a sense of freedom, and at the same time creating or maintaining an income stream to finance your travel pursuits.

However, just because you are living a location independent lifestyle doesn’t mean that you have to move constantly from one place to the next. It means that you have the freedom of mobility that others do not have. Your desire determines your destination. You can choose to have a single destination, or multiple ones, and you can stay as long as you want at any one of them.

For a lot of location independent professionals, there is a never-ending battle over whether to have an established home in one place, or live a completely nomadic lifestyle. With the variety of choices that life has to offer, it all depends on what your ultimate goals and dreams are. Hopefully, this article can help shed light on what really suits your lifestyle.

1. Minimal Travel Expenses

One considerable benefit that comes when you choose to stay in one location for a long period is the amount of money you can save on flight and travel expenses. In fact, you can probably save enough money to pay for the cost of living for additional months by staying in one destination rather than spending the it going to multiple places. For example, there is no reason to bring a hair straightener for your hair cut when using a professional with hair straighteners because it is just an extra expense.

2. Cheap Rent

Another good reason why some location independent professionals prefer to stay longer at one place is to take advantage of better accommodation deals. Some places have better offers when staying for 6 months to 1 year. But of course, for some people, being tied down for one year in one place may be a bit too long.

The best way to test the desirability of this arrangement is by first starting out with a 3-month contract. With that time frame, you have sufficient time to get to know the place, know the culture and finally decide if staying for 1 year is right for you.

3. Avoiding costly purchases and set-up expenses

By staying in one place, you will start to learn where to buy bargain items that get the best value for your money, especially when buying food and eating out. One of the common mistakes that people make is to arrive at their destination and start to explore without first researching the area and end up paying more for the services they find along the way.

When moving to a new place, you can be sure that your cost of living will increase for a month until you figure everything out. This also goes for set-up expenses. The best thing to do is to stay put, avoid unnecessary expenses and get know the place first.

4. Local Price and Tourist Price

There are several countries in the world, especially in Asia, that have a price set for locals, and a separate price for tourists. By staying in one place long enough, and becoming a regular in bars or restaurants, and being seen as a frequent guest, you might have discounts and other privileges available. But be aware, that it may take a couple of months to build this type of relationship with the locals. Over the course of a few weeks or months, you will see your expenses diminish.

5. Time is Gold

Finding balance in building your business profitably and living in a foreign country where the cost of living can be high is a struggle for most location independent professionals. The best option is to choose the country where the standard and cost of living is lower, that way you don’t have to worry about high expenses.

By visiting a country with a lower cost of living for an extended period of time, without the worries of having to move from one place to another, you could afford to live for long enough to launch any new business and work on it until it becomes successful.

6. Travel in your own location independent style

If you are still new to traveling and visiting new places, then deciding to stay in one location can help you soft nudge into this lifestyle. By staying in one place temporarily, you only have to organize your accommodations once. This will prove to be less complicated than having to deal with 10 places in one trip. Staying in one location does some other advantages such creating personal relationships with the locals, learning interesting things about the culture, and simply taking time to assess what your future plans are. Who knows, you might even learn a thing or two that you can use on your next trip.

7. Experiencing the Culture

For a lot of people, traveling to other places is their own adventure. They get to see cultures, landscapes, beliefs and traditions that may be unlike their own. Of course there are other possible reasons why they choose to visit a place, but one thing is for sure, their sense of adventure made them decide to go there.

If you stay long enough in a given location, you will eventually get to know the place much better than when you first arrived. It takes a long time to reach the roots of a culture, but the lessons and experiences you get will make it all worthwhile.

Now that we’ve discussed all the positive things of staying in one place, let’s now move on to the downsides.

Staying in a foreign country will involve a lot of paperwork and documentation. Dealing with visas and immigration may be your biggest headache, as each country that you will go to will have different requirements and a different number of options for foreigners staying for a long period of time.

Be aware that there will be restrictions in terms of the number of months you can stay at one place. If you are setting up a business, then this may be a little tricky, but if not, then you have nothing to worry about. The best way to avoid any future problems is by researching visa, immigration and foreign business laws on the web before you travel anywhere. In fact, this should be your first priority.

Reading time: 4 – 6 minutes

In living a location independent lifestyle, there are tons of things that one has to consider and think about. There many competing ideas that sometimes overwhelm our decision making regarding what we want to do, what our source of income will be, and what we should do for leisure activity.

With so many options and ideas to ponder, our thought process is sometimes clouded with so much junk that we become dizzy just trying to manage our thoughts. This can be and unwanted and unnecessary source of stress in our lives. One of most important things to do when designing your lifestyle is to simplify and make it a priority to be healthy and fit.

Yes. Simplify, simplify and simplify. Get rid of those flat irons, your favorite CHI flat iron and do not worry about your hair highlights. You need a simple life!

Outlined in this article are simple tips to help you work things out when making decisions as a location independent person. Hopefully, some of the things mentioned here can help you align your goals with your chosen lifestyle.

Visualize Your Dream Life

In order to attain your own personal happiness and achieve your goals and dreams, an essential starting point is to write down in a list what you want in your life. Analyze some of the things that you want to happen and its potential consequences.
As for me, I listed some of the things I want in my ideal life. Here are some of those things:

Have the freedom to work for only 3 to 4 hours a day

Surround myself with creative and similar minded people

Create an online business

Be location independent

Have my own schedule

Freedom to travel anywhere I want

Have lots of time with friends, family and spend time with loved ones

Become a motivational speaker and share my thoughts to others

Now, this is just the ideal life that I want. I will not achieve all of these goals any time soon, but by simply listing down what i want, I can prioritize and start to see what things I can start accomplishing sooner than others. Just remember that doing the things that you want does not happen overnight. All it takes is a little patience and perseverance to reach your intended path.

Create a List of “Must Do’s”

To put your ideal life in motion, you have to create several categories of goals and list them down. The list should be similar to this:

Specific skills to learn – dancing, skiing, public speaking and writing

Essential experience to gain – presenting, website creation, teaching and blogging

Savings and personal finance – investing, retirement money, travel funds

People to be with – mentors and friends

Places to visit, live in and travel to -

This is just a basic exercise to get the juices flowing. Once you’ve listed down a lot of your “must do” items, you can simply select what you want to focus on first. Hopefully, you’ll have a clear picture of where you really want to go in your own life. As for me, when faced with multiple questions, I just refer back to this guide and it helps me get back on track.

Do Your Homework

Another essential thing that you should is to research people who are living the location independent lifestyle successfully. I am sure that there are tons of blogs and websites that feature individuals, or even families that have successfully implemented their plans. Upon searching the net, you are sure to find inspiring stories on how they went about in achieving the lifestyle that they want. Try to carefully research their ideas, interests and reasons on how they were able to get where they were. Doing this can even pump you up and motivate you to live the location independent lifestyle.

Where You Are and Where You Want to Be

Living an location independent lifestyle is already a big challenge by itself. But the rewards are happiness, freedom, time well spent with loved ones, and enjoying life in general. Of course, you may be at the point in your life where you are still starting, it’s ok. Just as long as you have a clear idea of where you want to go, it does not matter where you are right now, just follow your dreams and the tips in this article, and soon enough you may find yourself living the dream.

Reading time: 3 – 5 minutes

The lure of packing your bags and living an independent life abroad sounds a little bit more targeted to the adventurous, and not for the typical Joe. But in all honesty, after the recent economic events, many Americans have decided to live a location independent lifestyle, free from the restraints of the populace, and to indulge their freedom in foreign countries.

But with all of the realities of settling in other countries, many location independent professionals have long wondered if they can still ever create their own home.

Well, the simplest answer is yes.

“Home” generally takes on a lot of different meanings to each one of us. But the basic and simplest definition is this; a home is where we are most comfortable. It is our private sanctuary where we can leave most of our problems outside, and just feel secure inside.

Since most location independent professionals are on the move, having a real home may appear to be challenging, if not almost impossible. However, there are several solutions to this dilemma. And just because the term location independent may mean that you are always on the move, at the end of it all, you still want to have a place called home.

What is a Home?

For some people, their home is their sanctuary. It is a place where they can just relax and call their own. And it does not matter if it’s a small house or a big one, the sense of comfort that it provides is the main thing. There is no greater feeling after a hard day’s work of going “home” and just having your peace of mind.

For a number of people, their mindset is fixed on the idea of achieving two specific goals in their life. One is to make enough money to achieve financial security. The other one is securing your own home. Both concepts are basically tied to each other since having a home first requires you to have financial security and stability.

Now this is actually pretty simple as long as you’re in one town, city or country. And this is true for those that want to live the typical and traditional lifestyle, but how about those people that choose to be location independent and may want the freedom to always change their location?

As much as it may seem challenging at first, there are a number of options available if you really want to make a home while on the move.

Motor Homes

Another option for some people is to get an RV or house trucks. Now, there are dozens of available choices on market today so the decision will entirely depend on what your needs are. The beauty of owning a motor home is mobility. You can go anywhere you like and you can take your home with you. This can become a little bit more tricky if you plan to move from country to country.

Houseboats

For obvious reasons, people that love the idea of living near rivers and lakes, owning a houseboat is an appealing choice. Since houseboats are slightly larger than motor homes, there is a sense of living in a real home, giving some people the level comfort that they want.

Mobility may be a bit restricted since houseboats must be situated in waterways. Also, the only way to move houseboats is though the connected and navigable waterways or expensive dry hauling.

Establish a Base Location

If you want a maximized living environment where you can plant yourself from time to time, then purchasing a property in one location can be the best solution for you. This method can give you a sense of balance when you are done traveling from one place to the next.

Some factors you should consider are mortgage and rental costs. Since you may be out for months, or even years at a time, keeping your place secure is another thing you should consider.

Conclusion

Living a location independent lifestyle is fun and is certainly an educational experience. If you feel that establishing a home is important, then I hope that this article will somehow shed light on how to create a home while being a location independent professional.

Walking barefoot across the white gold beaches in Asia, soaking up the sun and enjoying exotic local food and simply relaxing on your own. Sun bathing on yachts docked ashore in Dubai, or diving with great whites in South Africa with no worries at all…

Living a location independent lifestyle presents a wonderful alternative to the traditional lifestyle that we are all probably accustomed to. There is no denying that this non-traditional living certainly offers a unique sense of freedom and mobility that has yet to be experienced by most.

There are, however, several myths that circulate around about Location Independent Living. Here are some of them:

Living an location independent lifestyle is for rich famous people with huge amounts of money stashed away in their offshore private bank accounts.

It is easy to believe that a location independent lifestyle is reserved for the elite and mere mortals such as ourselves cannot do it.

Living a location independent lifestyle is not for individuals or couples that are just starting out or have other financial obligations to consider.

Once you start living the location independent lifestyle, everything in your life will be perfect, and you never have to worry about anything else in the world.

As you travel the world using the finest travel clothing and eventually find the perfect place to settle down, everything in your life will fall in place and be all fine.

Now that we have mentioned the myths that surround location independence, let’s focus on the traps that are said to be attached to this lifestyle.

It is quite easy to become attached to the adrenaline rush and excitement created by constantly visiting new places.

It is rather easy to look forward to the next planned destination so much that you tend to forget to enjoy the current place that you are staying at.

Being attached to one place and eventually look at it more favorably than other places.

Adjusting to different time zones can drive you nuts.

Being easily distracted by the new surroundings, and eventually slacking off from work and other responsibilities.

These are just some of the common myths and traps that are commonly associated with Location Independence.

Reading time: 4 – 6 minutes

Are you truly happy with your life and the direction you are going? Your current lifestyle is a result of your past decisions, efforts and achievements. Accomplishing your goals just part of life, sometimes you stumble and unfortunately may get lost under various complexities that arise.

The best way to solve this is to step back and reassess your goals and actions. Determine if they are in accordance with accomplishing what you truly want in your life. It is easy for most of us to set goals in our lives but how many of us really accomplish them or even have the focus to persevere despite the odds being stacked against us.

The cards that life deals to us may not be exactly what we want. Unfortunately, we are forced to play with what we have in our hands; one is not born with sleeves to put aces up. There are some obligations and other commitments that you cannot walk away from.

I firmly believe that the best way to implement a lifestyle design plan is by doing small changes over time. I am sure that there are self-help books that promise change in 7 days or less, but in that time frame, things can actually go from bad to worse. Taking small steps is the better route towards successful lifestyle design because there is more margin for error. You will stumble but hopefully regain your balance and proceed onward

FOUR LIFESTYLE DESIGN FACTORS

When taking on this huge step in your life step back and analyze all the different elements that make your life unique and if those factors contribute to the accomplishment of your goals.

1. DAILY HABITS

Your day-to-day activities are usually dictated by countless repetitions of different actions. Though you may not realize this most of us do the same thing everyday for many years and are comfortable with the routine like taking care of personal habits such as hair straightening with curling irons or hair dryers. Use the best travel clothes possible.

The main purpose of lifestyle design is to live the life you want. You must discern the philosophy that drives you and determine what your major purpose is. Most of our lives are scheduled, implemented and maintained by routine; we float like plankton caught within the current of life with no control over our path or destination. By taking a different approach to your daily activities, this alternative opens up opportunities you may not be aware of with your present routine.

I suggest that you examine the different habits that you have that may be hindering you from experiencing the life you want. Assess which activities are monotonous and routine that can be changed for the better.

2. SOCIAL LIFE

The friends that you have and the social circle that you revolve around have a considerable impact of your life. For the most part, we are creatures of habit and we tend to gravitate towards people with the same attitudes, mindset and expectations. Though there is nothing wrong with hanging out with the same friends all the time, you can actually be limited by the circle you associate with.

If possible, try to meet new people and join groups that you are unfamiliar with. This experience will open new friendships, habits and ultimately help you out in creating a varied social structure in your life.

3. JOB AND WORK ETHIC

Since work is something that we will constantly do to earn a living, having a job that we love is the most important part in attaining a happy life. Of course, the next factor is how much you are getting paid for the job. If you are in a job that pays well but think that you should be doing something else for more inner satisfaction then that is a definite sign for you to do what you really want.

To avoid potentially large financial costs or inconvenience implementing lifestyle design should be done slowly and not abrupt. You can start by having small changes in your work, streamline and automate the processes you can and you should eventually begin to identify tasks to outsource. Work towards making your income location independent. All it takes are baby steps in doing this; little by little you will get the lifestyle you aspire for. And keep in mind that a career change, no matter what your age is, can sometimes lead you to better things and experiences.

4. THE BIG PICTURE

Looking at our lives and what our daily experiences are is an important aspect of lifestyle design. Customizing your experiences in life depends on the opportunities that may arise anytime. Assessing your strengths, skills and expectations on how to face new challenges can help you improve your current state.

Your life and the experiences that you will have should center on the kind of life that you want. And the best way to do this is by following all things that you feel passionate about. Because in the end, you are responsible for how you live your life.

Reading time: 4 – 6 minutes

Time is an important resource; one we cannot buy with money. With our day-to-day activities focused on how to earn a living, balancing our social life and setting the appropriate number of hours for our leisure activities, we know that time is a precious commodity. While we can trade time for gold we cannot trade gold for time.

But balancing an hour’s productivity and worth has always been a problem. Since we live in an era of multi-tasking we try to squeeze the most productivity from every single hour. We even justify this notion by the number of tasks done per hour. And though this seems productive it can be tiring and time consuming.

With that in mind, let us shift our attention to wealthy individuals. These people already have sufficient in their bank accounts. They have a mindset or an attitude that their time is worth a lot of money and they would much rather pay other people to do services for them in order to free up their time. This is as close to trading gold for time that one can get. And this opportunity allows free time for themselves so they can easily focus on the important aspects they choose whether it is additional professional ventures, starting businesses or floating through the ocean of life like a wandering, drifting plankton.

They would much rather pay other people to do tasks for them to free up their calender than spend their precious times on tasks that do not generate utility, joy or happiness. Here are just some tips to help you increase work productivity and opportunities for leisure time.

ASSIGN VALUE TO YOUR TIME

To get started on this, assign a dollar value to each hour of your time. This will help in leaving the typical employee attitude where their time’s value averages from $10 to $40 dollars an hour.

Set the goal of what your time is worth to you. You can start by placing a hundred dollar price tag for your work per hour. Then streamline and automate as many of your tasks as possible to save your time. It all comes down to how much do you value your time, and by doing so, every decision and action that comes within that hour will be better and more productive.

OUTSOURCE LOW LEVEL TASKS

Setting this standard by placing a value for your time allows you to raise the bar on which activities you do. For example, if you value your time at $100 per house and spending time in the garage to fix your car or do other menial tasks could be outsourced to a handyman for $40 per hour then doing those tasks yourself would not be the best use of your time.

With this mindset you can now start to identify which tasks to delegate and outsource. This will help you focus on the things that you want. This applies to business, personal and family matters.

Wealthy individuals use their money in order to have free time. Now, I am not saying that spending for every service available is right course of action but paying for services that can free up your time can help you achieve your goals.

For example, if you are planning to start an online business then there are many things to accomplish such as the website design, creating content and regular maintenance. Aside from those three factors you must balance your work and family life. You may eventually become so overwhelmed that you can only focus on one thing.

Well, suppose the website requires three to four hours of maintenance. With your hourly rate valued at $100, that activity alone will cost you up to $400. Now, that is a lot of money as a daily expense if you are the one maintaining it. There are a lot of people today, such as freelancers, that can do it for you for quicker and for a lower price. Outsourcing also allows your to become location independent because you can use individuals all over the world easily and efficiently with the assistance of the World Wide Web.

KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO DO

Recognizing the tasks that you should do and what you should outsource is an important element in increasing your overall productivity. In fact, with Internet’s help there has been a surge in outsourcing projects to other countries which was impossible only a few years ago.

This gives you complete access to specialists in the area you want and costs may be much lower in China or India as compared to the United States or Europe. Hopefully you adequately interview and evaluate your freelancers so that you get high quality and timely service for a fair price. This will then allow you to do other things that are more important.

This process involves 3 steps:

Set an specific amount of value for you hour

Identity which tasks can be outsourced to increase your productivity

Begin to outsource tasks (start with little tasks to avoid large losses or inconvenience)

By implementing the few concepts mentioned above you will likely see your productivity increase. You will accomplish more with less input. You will have more time available for other activities you choose. This will help you get more utility and value from your life which will allow you to focus on the things which really matter and are really worth your time.

Reading time: 3 – 4 minutes

Becoming a location independent professional have some perks you may feel guilty about while enjoying the good life. By not being tied down to a regular office job and feeling the drudgery of working 8 hours or more in a tiny cubicle the a location independent professional can get out and enjoy life by living out their traveling fantasies by exploring Europe, renting a car in India or analyzing Asia.

But seriously, as with all other aspects of life nothing is perfect. And though there are certainly many advantages and positive outcomes of living the location independent life, there are still some negative aspects as well. We will discuss some of the negative experiences shared by some who have taken this route to further shed light on this topic and serve as a guide for those planning to take this road less traveled in the future.

One of the most common problems experienced by independent location individuals is the need to adapt quickly to a changing environment. Since most of the time is spent traveling from one place to another, those with experience point out that it is a constant juggling act to maintain balance in handling personal life, relationships with family or friends and maintaining a tightly run machine with their income generation. For example, this can lead to difficulties maintaining personal habits such as skin care using your favorite makeup products and tips. Of course, men have it easy because all they worry about is finding a cheap men’s haircut with a good men’s hairstyle. And in this chaotic hurricane that brews on the surface and seemingly overwhelms every thing sometimes doubts arise under the surface in the soul after experiencing difficulty that some may even return back to an anchored port lifestyle to avoid the tumultuous waves of the open sea.

Now, this type of problem is certainly understandable since most of us, are still new to this digital nomad lifestyle as a single plankton within the World Wide Web. And sometimes reality sets in that this “lifestyle” may not be as easy and comfortable as our imagination dreamed. But the key in getting through rough times is to refocus on the philosophy that drives you. Why did you choose to design your lifestyle in this way? Try to remember the reason why you wanted to be a location independent professional.

The choice of becoming a location independent professional is your decision. And the lifestyle that it brings promises fun, freedom and constant change. This is what the purpose: increased quality of life. That is why hundreds of thousands of individuals have decided to join this movement.

The location independent lifestyle provides an exciting adventure to those willing to create it. But this lifestyle is NOT for everyone. It is for those willing to take the challenge and forge something unique.

There will certainly be experiences that can brighten up your day and can really make a difference in your life but there will be stressful days also. It is all part of the journey of life because at the end of the day what do you have? Friends, family, experiences, memories. Live the best you can.

Reading time: 5 – 8 minutes

If you have ever desired to live life to the fullest and are fed up with all the monotonous activity of staying in one place, one job and in one community then becoming a location independent is the right path for you. Okay, so what exactly is a location independent professional?

A location independent professional is someone that can travel the world living their life while still being able to pay their bills. These individuals or couples are using available resources such as the Internet and other passive income earning strategies to fund their lifestyle. It is easy and works out for them.

Of course, I am sure you are thinking that if this is true then how come you have not heard of this lifestyle or even know people who live it. The answer is hidden in plain sight. Location Independent professionals are out there in everyday life wandering through countries, visiting historical places, soaking up the sun on a beach in a tropical island and NOT working inside the cubicle or office space next to you. They are already living their life independent of any particular location.

Well, for many of us who are still stuck in the rut of going through an 8 to 5 job to pay bills and mortgages the idea of packing up all our things to travel and enjoy the world is not an option. And most would imagine that in order to travel and do whatever they love doing an individual has to constantly toil for a number of years to accumulate enough savings.

For some people, being a location independent professional means that they prefer to live life the way they want while enjoying their sense of freedom without having to join the rest of the population in postponing their dream job or lifestyle until after retirement.

Though a lot of people have already invested in putting money for their 401k’s for retirement benefits, why do most of us have to wait for 20 to 30 years until we live life the way we want? Because you choose it. That is how you have designed your lifestyle, either intentionally or, more likely, inadvertently.

Is the location independent lifestyle right for you?

Well, the first thing you need to do is to examine what you REAL goals and dreams in life are. This is harder than you may think. It is important for you to figure out what it is that really motivates your daily activities.

You have to block out all external factors that usually influence your decision making process. Only think about yourself. No pressure from bosses, spouses, parents and friends. This is your life so take a few moments to analyze and examine what is really worth the time. What is the philosophy that drives you? A shrink that charges by the hour will not really help you answer that question or HOW to LIVE your life.

KNOW YOURSELF

Now, if you have spent a considerable amount of time in finding your inner voice regarding your goals then here are couple questions to ask yourself to determine if being a location independent professional and its lifestyle is right for you:

1. Have you ever wanted to travel the world and experience different cultures?

2. Can you adapt to unfamiliar environments and communities?

3. Do you know other languages aside from your own?

4. Is living in one place boring?

5. Can you leave your ‘stuff’?

6. Do you welcome challenges and look forward to unexpected outcomes?

Now, if you have answered “yes” to question lined up, then you know that an independent location lifestyle is for you. This lifestyle is not for everyone. I know that some people prefer to have a daily routine and structure to their life.

This includes individuals that prefer to have their organizer next to them at all times, eat the same food at the same place all the time and must watch their favorite TV show daily at the same time. There is nothing wrong with that lifestyle and many people live and enjoy it. But some people are freer birds preferring to float like plankton through the ocean of life while experiencing the vast diversity of humanity.

I cannot stress the importance of living your ideal life. The idea of living elsewhere can really sound enticing and appealing to your adventurous side but if your personal long term goals do not coincide with what location independent offers then you may suddenly find yourself stuck in another country wondering why you started this journey. The real goal is to find joy in the journey of life whatever path you choose and lifestyle you design.

FINANCIAL SAFETY NET

Another important factor that dictates how you will go about this is money. Money is the main ingredient in making sure that you pay for what you want. We all want to have a financial safety net in case something happens that require our immediate attention, like hospital bills, travel insurance, dinner, etc.

Having entrepreneurial skills can help alleviate some of the financial pressures. If you have an operating business that can function without your constant physical attention at a specific location then you will not have a significant problem from this aspect in redesigning your lifestyle.

If you are working within a limited budget then try to save at least 6 to 12 months of expenses. You can find additional revenue generating activities. There are many online opportunities that can provide location independent income. This includes blogging, Internet marketing, affiliate marketing, selling stock photos, and etc.

PERKS OF LOCATION INDEPENDENCE

There are countless stories of individuals and couples that have uprooted their life for the open road or sea. They are living their dreams of learning to dance tango in Argentina, strolling through ancient cities in Europe or eating who-knows-what in Asia. They are experiencing different cultures and simply enjoying what their designed lifestyle has to offer. These individuals all had the notion that staying in one place would not satisfy them and that life was too short to miss experiencing the world.

As for you, the journey for this kind of life begins now. There are many resources available like The Four Hour Work Week that can get you started. Get started on actively designing your lifestyle. Remember, we do not beat the Reaper by living long but by living well.

Plankton is one of the world’s simplest and basic organisms. And yet its effect on the world is unrecognized. Though it may be small in size, its contribution ranges from being the world’s biggest oxygen producer, to its treatment for cancer patients and its role in the food chain.

There is no other single celled organism in the world can match the effect that plankton has. In fact, our continued existence today, is in a way, caused by the environmental effect of planktons.

The oxygen supply in the world has always been thought to be the domain of trees and other botanical organisms. Yes, it is correct. But what most people do not know about is that plankton contributes far greater that trees do. Its estimated oxygen production levels is at 90%, this by far is the most essential role of plankton.

Plankton is a microscopic organism that lives in every ocean depth there is. This is because every layer in the sea or ocean has a certain nutrient that plankton feeds on, and since they need sunlight to process photosynthesis, their location can vary from one depth to the next. It can hardly be seen by the naked eye, although in great numbers, it can appear to be a green colored substance under the water.

Furthermore, plankton is one of the forefront basal organisms in the food chain. This means that they are the source of food for most of the tiny organisms that starts of the web. So fish and other creatures feed on plankton, and in the next step the fishes are the prey of other large fishes, and the cycle continues until it reaches man.

And though some people may find it hard to believe that planktons are that important, if the food chain has a missing link, it will affect all that follow.

In the field of medicine, there are groundbreaking discoveries in cancer treatments. It has been found that planktons can help prevent the cause of tumors within the body. Recent experiments have shown that planktons contain more nutrients than any other cell or medicine today. It also contains chlorophyll, something that plants have that transports nutrients to damaged or oxygen-deprived cells.

It has also been discovered that those cancer patients that have been given plankton based medicines while after their surgery or treatments have a higher recovery rate than others. In fact, some have even regained their former strength when they were much younger. The plankton treatment revitalized their old cells and jumpstarted their system for a healthier and fuller life. The effect of drinking plankton and the immune system is very good.

And with more scientific research being conducted on plankton, there will be discoveries to be made about what plankton can do to improve our lives and our health. It is just unbelievable on how this small microorganism can contribute in so many different fields, and improve the lives of people that need new medical treatments. In time, plankton will be recognized as one of the most important and yet subtle organisms that exist in this planet.

Reading time: 2 – 4 minutes

Phytoplanktons are tiny autotrophic organisms that are ocean-bound. They are plants and bacteria that provide a tremendous amount of nutrition. These microscopic organisms are the vegetation of the ocean and also in charge of creating up to 90% of oxygen. Phytoplanktons provide us essential vitamins and minerals. Large sea creatures like bow head whales, blue whales and other kinds of whales eat plankton.

These sea animals can live up to 80 – 150 years old sustaining their strength and endurance during their existence. What phytoplanktons can do for sea life can also do for humans, it can extend our life span with a healthy and strong body.
The micro nutrients found in plankton are customized for the human body.

Phytoplanktons have electrolytes and components that our body needed. The human body has an amazing system called homeostasis that maintains all systems in balance. Eliminate some important elements needed by the body will cause it to break down and have diseases. Phytoplanktons are perfect in keeping the equilibrium in our bodies and are also essential in helping us live a long and healthy life.

Here are the reasons why phytoplankton may be beneficial to our health:
• They reduce the pain and swelling in our joints.
• They contain ultra-potent lipids to improve brain function.
• They provide mental alertness that fights Parkinson’s disease, general dementia and ADHD.
• They stabilize blood sugar levels.
• They support a healthy with their amount of vitamins and minerals.
• They can decrease the level of cholesterol in your body.
• They prevent you from having dermatitis and psoriasis.
• The vitamins and minerals in phytoplanktons are abundant. They include vitamins B12, C, E, potassium, chlorophyll, magnesium and plentiful other minerals and vitamins.
• They are helpful in maintaining perfect eyesight, healthy liver and good sleeping habits.
• They increase your energy level

The impact of phytoplankton as an additional source of nutrients in the body presents an alternative to medicines and chemicals that are created in a laboratory. This also coincides with current trend of having a holistic natural approach to healing oneself. And though pharmaceutical companies may come out with similar products, there is still no comparison on the healing effects of natural organisms available for our use.
The use of phytoplankton as an alternative remedy has already started. There are numerous websites on the Internet where stories of fast recoveries are being made by patients that take phytoplankton as their medicine. In fact, their healing rate is much faster than those that use conventional methods imposed by doctors.

This certainly proves that no amount of scientific concoction created in a laboratory can complete with healing effects and nutrients provided by phytoplankton. This organism, if harnessed to its full potential, will create more healthy individuals and help control diseases that are caused by sedentary and negligent lifestyles. But we have barely scratched the surface with what phytoplankton can offer, with more future research conducted, there will be more vitamins and medicines that contain phytoplankton as its base ingredient.

Cancer, in all its different forms, strikes thousands of victims per year. It is one of the most dreadful ailments that afflicts life. And yet, despite the efforts to prevent this from emerging from one’s body, it continues to plague unsuspecting victims every year.

And the most common treatments are either chemotherapy or surgically removing the tumor, both of which are two expensive treatments. It is traumatic and painful; something that no one wants to go through, but has no other options.

But did you know that there are other ways to prevent and remove cancer completely?

For this solution, we turn to the ocean and find the basic form of life single-cell phytoplanktons. Phytoplankton is a microscopic organism that produces more than half of the world’s oxygen supply. This organism contains an abundant amount of nutrition that is comprised of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that can outperform any type of multivitamin or medicine created by today’s pharmaceutical companies.

Phytoplankton also plays a specific role in the food chain. It is nucleus or the start of the food chain and all other animals build upon it. And since it is small, it can easily penetrate cells and provide the needed nutrients for cell regeneration and better performance.

In fact, several research conducted proves that phytoplankton contains nutrients that have been successful in exterminating growing and existing cancer cells. There are many reports regarding cancer survivors taking phytoplankton to regain and surpass their current health wellness levels.

It is no wonder that large mammals such as whales and other sea creatures that consume phytoplankton as their regular diet live long; to about 150 years. Having phytoplankton as regular diet can really boost up your health and may even help you live longer than the average person.

In treating cancer, there are cases of stage four patients that were able to regain their health by drinking phytoplankton. And further research has shown that phytoplankton contains chlorophyll, a known transporter of nutrients in plants, and in some way has direct effect in increasing oxygen levels in the patient’s cells.

Furthermore, phytoplankton that contain chlorophyll has been well documented to help fight and destroy cancer cells by cleaning the blood of any impurities, transporting needed nutrients and minerals for faster recovery and ultimately increase the levels of oxygen in the body. In short, it is like rebooting your whole system, removing all the unwanted elements which results in having a better life from greater health. A stronger immune system will result in a stronger you.

This use of phytoplankton is a new discovery for doctors and medical researchers. There has not been this kind of a positive solution for cancer treatment in a long time. And unlike other treatments where radiation and harmful chemicals are involved; with phytoplankton only healthy elements that are designed to naturally cleanse your body of toxins to create a healthier and better you. So if you want to live a cancer free life, then I strongly suggest that taking phytoplankton is an investment for your body’s future.

Over the of years our planet’s health has increasingly deteriorated due to global warming, build up of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and the release of other toxic emissions that has led to the drastic shift in earth’s climate. This effect has pushed environmentalists to step-up their efforts in informing the public of how to prevent the escalation of this unfortunate event.

For the most part, the air that we breathe today is partly produced by terrestrial organisms such as plants and trees. Trees and other plant life contribute greatly to the contribution of oxygen in our atmosphere.

And without which, almost all living organisms would not survive. But did you know that aside from trees and other botanical organisms, there are other sources of oxygen as well? And these organisms are called Phytoplankton.

WHAT IS PLANKTON?

Every living organism that derives their food from the sea, such as fish, large whales, shrimp, birds and even humans have a lot to thank plankton for. Planktons are single celled organisms that live at all different levels of the ocean’s surface. This is because planktons are divided up into different categories, and each group has its own need for sunlight and nutrients. Every level in the ocean has specific nutrients that planktons feed on.

There are mainly two types of plankton in the world; the small plants that are called phytoplankton, and the other one are tiny animals called zooplankton. These organisms cannot be seen by the naked eye, but if they are grouped under the water, they appear to be green colored substances moving around with the current. In fact, if you research satellite images of plankton, you can see whole oceans with spots of green plankton all over.

And what makes this organism so fascinating is its ability to convert carbon dioxide into life giving materials that spawn new life under the sea. This process is called photosynthesis, and all living organisms above and under the sea are benefiting from plankton’s productivity because of its release of oxygen. It has been confirmed by scientists and researcher that plankton contributes to up to 90% of the world’s oxygen supply.

Another factor that makes this organism a key player in our survival is its place in the food chain. Planktons are categorized as a basal organism, which makes it the first prey in the food web. Larger organisms such as fish and invertebrates such as crabs and lobsters depend on plankton for food. And as the food chain continues, larger fish and humans who consume fish and crabs as well.

Of course, if you take out plankton in that equation, it greatly affects the survival rate of the next organism and it continues up to the last part of the food chain, which is man.

So you see, plankton is not only a basic food source for small fish in the sea, but also plays a larger role in all of Earth’s organisms. Its oxygen contribution is also on top of the chart. Plankton may be miniscule in size, in fact you can hardly see one at all, but its effect greatly influences our everyday living.

Planktons are small organisms that are found in the upper levels of the water in oceans, lakes and rivers. Its name in Greek literally means “drifter” or “wanderer”; denoting the immobility of plankton to move horizontally through the water.

And though plankton can move vertically, its diminutive size cannot go against strong waves, so their horizontal movement depends largely on the direction of the ocean’s current. They are situated in different levels of the ocean depending on the amount of sunlight available.

Another reason for this is that plankton ecosystems generally rely on their access to solar energy for photosynthesis. These organisms thrive on ocean levels where there are abundant amounts of nutrients and sunlight. They are also categorized according to their ecological niche, meaning that unlike other organisms that are labeled based on their phylogenetic or taxonomic classifications, plankton is recognized by its effect on the ecological system as a whole.

Plankton is also one of the main sources of food for fish. They are the most common prey for all fish larvae, and large sea mammals such as whale sharks or blue whales.

Plankton is generally divided up into 3 functional categories:

Phytoplankton are a group of plankton that reside near the surface of the water where there is enough light to sustain photosynthesis. The important groups in this classification are coccolithophores, cyanobacteria, diatoms and dinoflagellates.

The next category is Zooplankton. This group comprises of small protozoans and metazoans, this includes crustaceans such as crabs, lobsters and crayfish among others that prey on this group of plankton.

The last kind of plankton is Bacterioplankton. They are mostly bacteria and archaea, organisms that play an important factor in transforming organic molecules into inorganic forms down the water column.

Plankton has its place in the lower regions of the food chain and is the basic source of food for small aquatic animals like fish larvae. During the early stage of their life cycle fish rely on their yolk sac for nutrition. But once the supply is consumed, the fish larvae switches to plankton as a food source.

Fish rely on plankton to survive during its development stage. And if the number of plankton decreases, the population of fishes will be greatly affected. This cycle clearly demonstrates the impact of plankton upon all ocean wild life.

Aside from its role in the lower levels of the food chain, the plankton ecosystem play a major role in our planet’s biochemical cycles out of the many chemical cycles that exist.

Plankton, though miniscule in size, plays a large role in our planet’s everyday survival. From its initial impact to lower species in the food chain to its role in fixing biochemical systems, shows that every organism that exists in this planet has a specific task to fulfill to ensure the existence of other species like blue whales, vampire squids whether large or small. There is no doubt that without plankton and its effects on a global scale; the cycle of every organism that exists will be at risk.

While the smallest and a mere drifter or wanderer the plankton is essential for the life cycle of our planet’s oceans.

The earth’s oceans are filled with different marine organisms and aquatic animals that play an important role in our planet’s ecosystem. With every animal that lives under the ocean, as with land-based animals, each is totally dependent on other creatures for its existence. The food chain is a clear example of this relationship between the different levels of prey and predator. In order to understand the concept of this mutual relationship to survive, let us look at Phytoplanktons and its role in the food chain and ultimately, our ecosystem.

Phytoplankons are tiny autotrophic organisms that live in the ocean. Its name is derived from the Greek words “phyton” and “planktos”, which means plant wanderer or drifter. This is a description of phytoplankton’s characteristic of having no resistance to waves and current that can affect its movement. Though they cannot be seen without special equipment, once they are clustered together in large groups appear the water can appear to have a a green discoloration due to the cholorphyll present in their cells. On satellite images, phytoplanktons can be seen as large green colored formations of water in seas and in oceans.

These creatures source their energy from the sun through photosynthesis, and must eventually live in ocean levels where light is abundant. They are responsible for almost half of the earth’s photosynthetic activity as well as oxygen levels in the Earth’s atmosphere, which equates to half of the total number created by all plant life.

Furthermore, phytoplankton relies on minerals for its own sustenance. These minerals are macronutrients such as silicic acid, phosphate and nitrate and its availability depends on the equilibrium of the ocean’s biological pump and rise of deep cool water to the surface.

Also, phytoplankton covers all microorganisms that are photoautrophic in aquatic food chains, and thus secures its place in the basal level of the aquatic food chain supplying all the needed ecological function for aquatic life. Although, unlike other land-based terrestrial groups that are considered plants, phytoplankton is a unique group comprised of protistan eukaryotes, eubacterial and archaebacterial prokaryotes. There are estimated to be at least 5,000 aquatic phytoplanktons.

In addition, phytoplanktons are also an essential food source in the farming of freshwater and saltwater animals such as fish farms. And since aquafarming is done in contained and isolated waters, phytoplankton is used to feed the animals being farmed. In fact, phytoplanktons can now be artificially cultured for different purposes such as food for aqua organisms, supplements for captive invertebrates, and a source for bio-fuels.

Phytoplanktons are also known as the main source of food for krill, which is a member of the crustacean family that looks similar to a shrimp. Krill is one of than main food sources of baleen whales. This clearly shows the aquatic food chain in its basic form, and if one link is missing, all the following chains will be affected. The role of phytoplankton on our ecosystems contributes largely to the continued survival of all other organisms living in this planet.
